Day of Action: Newbold

Rochdale South Neighbourhood partnership
4th February 2026

The Rochdale South Partnership wanted to get a picture of what it’s like to live in Newbold and the best to tell us that are the people who live there.  This will help us to shape services with communities and help people along the way.

The Newbold community engagement event took place on Thursday 29th January – a wide range of teams and services were available at the Youth Centre on Moss Street between the hours of 9am and 7pm.

We offered Free Health Checks, information and advice, and Vaccinations (Canalside PCN, Living Well and NHS Vaccination teams).  37 health checks were carried out and 17 referrals were made for high blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugars.  10 vaccinations were administered for flu and Covid.

In the main hall we had the following organisations on hand: Your Trust, Victim Support, Newbold Community Church, Newbold Community Gardens, Newbold Family Hub, Altus Trust, Groundwork, ESOL, Citizens Advice, Rochdale Council Environment Team, Andalucia Learning centre, Guinness Housing, Home Instead, Rochdale Youth Service, Action Together, Deeplish Community Centre, Rochdale Customer Service and Get Rochdale Working.

We had approximately 20 volunteers out door-knocking.  We knocked on over 400 houses and managed to complete 67 forms with residents.  Where residents were unavailable, we posted a letter through the door to let them know we had called.

As well as Alan, we had a resident volunteer (Mark Chrimes) in the venue taking photographs.

We had support from Medina Mosque, Culture Co-op and Erica at Creative Health.
