Improving the look and feel of Drake Street – what does Drake St mean to you?

Culture Co-op
23rd September 2025

Collective aim is for Drake St and Yorkshire St to be safe, vibrant and attractive places that are welcoming to all. It is recognised that there is a need to address local issues including tackling serious and organised crime threats in the area but this will be done alongside creating safer spaces, strengthening services and improving the living, working and recreational environment. Drake St is a place of refuge for many who benefit from the unique web of support services on offer.

However we progress on Drake St we want it to happen together so we’ve already been capturing the views and priorities of local people to influence the plans. The views and priorities of people have been captured  by the Elephants Trail, who themselves have lived experience of multiple disadvantage. The focus has been on the quality of conversation and learning, rather than its quantity. See link to the Elephants video. As we move forward we really want to generate, prioritise and mobilise solutions together so please share any thoughts on what Drake St means to you or how you feel we could improve the area? Thank you
